The Experience You Should Expect
A kitchen renovation is a significant undertaking. You’re living with trades in your home, making dozens of decisions under time pressure, and trusting someone else with one of the most important rooms in your house.
The experience you have during the renovation matters as much as the result you end up with. Here’s exactly what the Konnect Kitchens process looks like — from your first call to the day we hand over the keys.
Stage 1 — The First Call
When you call Konnect Kitchens, you speak to Darren Bedford. Not a receptionist, not a sales coordinator, not a call centre. Darren.
In that first conversation, we’ll ask you to describe your kitchen and tell us what you’re hoping to achieve. We’ll give you an honest first reaction — including if we think your timeframe or budget needs adjusting — and we’ll schedule a consultation.
Stage 2 — The Free VIP Design Consultation
The consultation happens at your home. We come to you.
We spend time in the space — measuring, assessing, asking questions. We want to understand how you cook, how your family uses the kitchen, what drives you mad about the current one, and what you’ve always wanted but never had.
This isn’t a sales presentation. It’s a conversation. At the end of it, you should have a clear picture of what’s possible and what it will cost. No obligation to proceed.
Stage 3 — Design Development
Based on the consultation, we develop your kitchen design. This includes full drawings, a complete specification of materials and finishes, and a detailed quote.
We present the design to you — in person, not via email — and talk through every element. If you want changes, we make them. If you have questions, we answer them. Nothing goes to production without your complete and explicit sign-off.
This phase typically takes two to four weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the number of revision rounds.
Stage 4 — Selections
Once the design is approved, we finalise material selections. You’ll make decisions on benchtop material and colour, cabinetry finish, hardware, splashback, and any appliances being supplied as part of the renovation.
We guide you through these decisions — with honest advice about what performs well in Queensland’s climate, what ages well, and what we’d choose if it were our own kitchen. We don’t push products for margin. We recommend what’s right for your kitchen.
Stage 5 — Manufacturing
Your cabinetry goes into production. It’s manufactured locally on the Gold Coast to your exact specifications. During this period — typically three to six weeks — we coordinate all the associated trades: plumber, electrician, tiler.
You’ll receive a confirmed installation start date and a detailed schedule of what happens on each day of the installation.
Stage 6 — Installation
Our team arrives on day one and manages every aspect of the installation. Demolition of the existing kitchen. Cabinetry installation. Benchtop templating and installation. Splashback. Plumbing. Electrical. Every trade in the right sequence, on the right day.
You have one contact throughout: Darren. If anything comes up — and occasionally things do — you hear about it from us before you see it.
Stage 7 — Final Walkthrough and Handover
Before we consider the job done, we walk through every element of your new kitchen with you. We check every door, every drawer, every appliance, every finish. If anything isn’t right, we fix it before we leave.
The job is finished when you’re satisfied — not when we’ve ticked our list.
After Handover
The relationship doesn’t end at handover. We’re contactable after the job is done. If something needs attention — a drawer adjustment, a question about maintenance — call us. We’ll come.
Margaret Schmidt, one of our Gold Coast clients, has had us renovate two of her kitchens. That doesn’t happen by accident.
